If you took our holiday quiz and were awarded with the title of Culture Vulture, then this is the post for you. From what to see, do and eat, here we look at the top 5 things you could ever want to know about planning a culture-filled holiday. Whether you love to explore the local museums, or learn a new skill, there are plenty of opportunities during a Royal break. So pack your bags and get ready for a holiday of a lifetime!

Get on land and take in the sights

In the Mediterranean, you can explore the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum in Rome, or admire the stunning creations within the Cistine Chapel, such as the “Creation of Adam”, by Michelangelo. Alternatively, you can head to the bustling city of Barcelona, where you can get to grips with the work of Antoni Gaudí, such as the Casa Batlló, Sagrada Familia and the stunning gardens and architecture of Park Güell. If you decide to set sail to Northern Europe, then be sure to wander around the likes of Helsinki, where you can take the time to gaze at the Sibelius Monument. This sculpture consists of over 600 steel pipes, and was built by Eila Hiltunen as a tribute to the Finnish composer, Jean Sibelius. 5410037085_c167c81865_z On top of these great destinations in Europe, you can now also explore the culture of the breathtaking Dubai, onboard Vision of the Seas. We recommend paying a visit to the Jumeirah Mosque, a towering magnificent white building that opens its doors to the public six days a week.

Learn something new

Learning all about the different cultures of the destinations you journey to is half the fun of a holiday, especially when you get to travel to so many. With our extensive range of shore excursions, you can take your pick at what you’d like to learn or explore, from historic sites to new skills, you’re spoilt for choice. If you fancy a trip to Uruguay in South America, then be sure to join in with the Juanicó Winery Tasting, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the breathtaking vineyards and eclectic wine cellar, as well as learn about the pairing of wines with food. 9863551085_e69e7c5da6_z If you’re a bit of a history buff, then you’re more likely to prefer a historical tour, such as our excursion around the ancient city of Ephesus. Wander around the ruins and landmarks of the past, such as Magnesia Gate, the Fountain of Trajan and the Temple of Hadrian.

Explore our onboard entertainment

Onboard Entertainment The onboard entertainment is undefeatable, so you’ll be blown away by the quality of the performances. Tap your feet along to the inspiring notes of our onboard pianist, or dance along to the live bands in the Music Hall.  Not only that, you’ll now get to gaze in amazement at the acrobatics of StarWater in our brand new Two70° venue, onboard our Quantum Class ships.

Sample the amazing cuisine onboard

If you’re a fan of the Japanese dish sushi, then be sure to check-out Izumi, where sashimi and sushi rolls are plentiful. For amazing quality family dining, be sure to spend at least one evening in 150 Central Park, a wonderful restaurant by top chef, Michael Schwartz. Dig into one of two rotating six-course menus, which each offer a range of delicious dishes, from beetroot and goat cheese tortellini to pan roasted pompano. 2485339826_97b595da8c_z For something hearty and comforting, be sure to try out the complimentary cuisine on offer in American Icon Grill. Start off with a bowl of New England clam chowder, and finish with a plate of waffles and buttermilk fried chicken, a true Southern example of soul food.

Become engrossed in a book

5234548420_5245b57de8_z Sometimes there’s nothing better than getting lost in a book, and you can do just that in our onboard libraries. Explore the imaginary worlds of literature’s kings and queens, or learn a new language with the help of a phrase book. From children adventures for the kids, to exploring what the future holds, the books in our libraries cover every taste - so just get stuck in!
