Cruise Dining: How to find perfection

By HannahTuesday 22nd October 2013

Dining on a cruise

You’ll find lots of tempting food on a cruise holiday. Whether you’ve worked up an appetite for a main meal or just want to grab a quick snack, read on to find out what your cruise dining options are, anytime of the day on a Royal Caribbean cruise. From pizza and meaty sandwiches to delicate sushi and custom-made salads, your options are plenty. Here’s our guide to some of the tasty food available onboard our ships.

All-inclusive Lunch and Dinner Options

An elegant meal in the Main Dining room

Enjoy table service and fine food in an elegant setting in the main dining room. If you’re not worried about where you sit or what time you eat, there’s no need to book, just head here when it suits you. If you’re a creature of habit you can pre-select your ideal cruise dining time for the length of your holiday, guaranteeing your space at the table. For a special treat, look out for the formal dining nights in the main dining room and remember you can eat breakfast and lunch here too.

family dining on a cruise

A casual meal in the Windjammer

For a casual meal, the Windjammer Café serves up breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for if you get peckish.

A family favourite meal at Sorrento’s Pizza

If pizza is your favourite comfort food, you’ll find an authentic New York pizzeria experience at Sorrento’s. The classic cheese and pepperoni pizzas are always on the menu and a range of other specials are on rotation. Did we mention the pies baked fresh from the oven? So if you’re travelling Oasis or Freedom class or on Majesty of the Seas you’re in for a treat.

A light meal at Jade Sushi

Choose a healthy dinner at Jade Sushi with its menu of Asian-fusion food that includes classic dishes like sushi and fried rice.

A meaty sandwich in the Park Café

One of the most talked about sandwiches in cruising is a slow-roasted beef roll called the Kummelweck. These are dished out for free at the Park Café on Oasis, Allure, Radiance and Brilliance of the Seas. You can also grab custom-made salads and paninis while you sit amongst the trees of the ship’s Central Park.

For all-day or late-night hunger pangs the Solarium Cafe serves pizza, burgers, fries, snacks and drinks until 2am.

Complimentary Snacks

If you just want a quick bite for lunch or dinner, the Boardwalk Dog House serves tasty hotdogs or you can grab a snack from the Café Promenade, which dishes out pizza, sandwiches and pastries.

If you’ve over-indulged and your body is crying out for something vitamin-rich then pop to the Solarium Bistro Buffet on Oasis and Allure of the Seas. You’ll find fresh fruit, wraps, a salad bar and lots of other healthy breakfast and lunch choices.

Great Value Cruise Dining

Johnny Rockets

This 1950s American diner is a winner with our guests. There’s a small service charge (USD 4.95 per person) to eat here. The price doesn’t change no matter how much you order. Plus iced tea, milkshakes and draft beer are a la carte.

Great Value Cruise Dining

Specialty Dining at Chops Grille

For a special treat, head to Chops Grille for dinner. As one of the oldest restaurants on the ship, its dark wood interior creates a luxurious atmosphere. Pick from a menu including juicy steaks and fresh seafood for a mere £19 per person.

Complimentary drinks

Look out for the Captain’s Cocktail Party, usually held before a formal dining night. Shake hands with the captain and enjoy hors d'ouvres and of course, complimentary cocktails!

Get free wine while you dine and unlimited free soda for kids on cruises 7 nights or longer, sailing May – October 2014 onboard Adventure, Brilliance and Independence of the Seas. Check the list of sailings that include this free drinks offer to find your perfect cruise.
