Liberty of the Seas: Top Ten Things To Do Aboard

By EricaMonday 13th May 2013

Guest post by Erica Douglas.

Liberty of the Seas
I was completely new to the idea of cruising before I embarked on a five night Caribbean cruise that sailed from Fort Lauderdale to Haiti, onto Jamaica and then back again.  I had many preconceptions, all of which were blown away.  I now like to think of myself as a keen cruiser and am planning my next voyage, this time around the Mediterranean.
I had such a wonderful time aboard Liberty of the Seas that it's difficult to condense it down to just ten of my favourite things. I have deliberated long and hard, here in reverse order are my top ten things to do aboard (and during port days) Liberty of the Seas.

10. Open air barbecue in Labadee, Haiti

In at number ten was the fantastic open air barbecue we enjoyed at Labadee in Haiti.  Ok, so this obviously isn't 'aboard' Liberty of the Seas, but it is included for those on the Caribbean cruise that docks at Labadee. It was an impressive spread that included ribs, chicken and fresh fruit.  Afterwards I promptly fell asleep beneath a palm tree on the beach.  Bliss.

9.  Play poker in the casino

I love a game of poker at home so I really wanted to have a game aboard.  The casino had slots, roulette, blackjack and poker tables.  I enjoyed my little flutter, even though I lost!

8. Flaming creme brulee

We enjoyed a special dinner at Chops Grille, a fine dining restaurant on Liberty of the Seas.  My dessert was a flaming creme brulee that was to die for.

7. See 'In the Air'

I've always wanted to see Cirque Du Soleil so I really enjoyed this display of modern dance and aerial acrobatics.  It's hard to believe they can fit a full sized theatre onboard a ship!

6. Breakfast on balcony sailing into Haiti

Room service is included aboard Liberty of the Seas so I highly recommended you take breakfast in your room to make the most of the breathtaking views as you dock at Haiti.

5. See Encore!

If you love Dancing On Ice, you'll love Encore!  Skaters from around the world wowed us with their twists and salchows.  I particularly appreciated the appearance of Elvis on skates.

4.  Beef tenderloin at Portofino

I enjoyed this dish twice during my trip it was so good.  The beef was some of the tastiest I've had.  Well worth paying a bit extra to enjoy the fine dining in the Portofino restaurant.

3. Seeing the stars and dolphins from my balcony

You may not be as lucky as I was and see a pod of dolphins, but the warm breeze and stars is special enough.

2. Exotic spa package

We're getting close to the top spot, in at number two is the wonderful spa package.  I enjoyed a facial, a hand massage and scalp massage.  There were two other treatments too but I think I might have fallen asleep having them, I was so relaxed.

1. Chukka Horseback & Swim & Dunn's Falls

My top thing to do while on your Caribbean cruise aboard Liberty of the Seas is book the Chukka Horseback & Swim & Dunn's falls excursion.  If you're sailing to Jamaica. I urge you not to miss out on this trip.  The day begins at a horse riding ranch, first up is a trek through the countryside.  After a short break you're back on the horse riding bareback this time, right into the sea.  We enjoyed a hearty lunch of Jamaican jerk chicken before heading to Dunn's Falls where we climbed the most beautiful waterfall.  It was quite unbelievable, one of the best days of my life.

Have you experienced the Liberty of the Seas? If you have, we'd love to hear your experiences below in the comments section.
