A Horrifyingly Good Themed Cruise

By BijalTuesday 29th October 2013

Halloween Pumpkins

Do you and your kids look forward to the ghoulish masks, sticky toffee apples and scary films Halloween brings? We do! The crisp autumnal leaves, eerie light of the moon and nervous excitement are the best parts of Halloween, and that’s why we love to celebrate it with our spooky themed cruise. Our spine-chillingly fun haunted house, and hair-raising activities will ensure you and your kids have a terrifyingly good time.

Halloween is thought to have originated in Celtic countries around the 10th Century. Then known as Samhain, it marked the end of the harvest season and start of the darker, winter months. This was seen as a time when souls of the dead returned home.
Today, Halloween is a chance for kids and adults alike to dress up, hunt for sweets, play tricks and carve out pumpkins. Spooktacular!

Trick or Treat?

Everybody loves a treat, so during Halloween your cruise ship will be transformed into a house of horrors, decked out with ghostly decorations. Throughout the day Halloween films, treats and arts and crafts activities will leave your kids spoilt for choice. When night sets in, you’ll be treated to a Monster Bash Dance Party, trick or treat and a costume competition of your own.
One of the most popular activities is the costume parade; a chance for kids who love to be creative to dress up as their scary heroes. Your kids can make their own frightening outfit with the help of our staff, and later showcase their talent at the parade. So get your little Frankensteins and skeletons at the ready!

Halloween across the world

The commercial aspect of Halloween may reside in America, but it’s also marked around the world with many countries celebrating it in some way. So, wherever you sail to with Royal Caribbean International, you won’t miss out.
China and Hong Kong have two celebrations connected to Halloween. The first is Yu Lan, a traditional Chinese festival when spirits are said to leave the lower realm and enter our world. Families burn paper versions of homes, money and gifts as a way of providing for their ancestors. China and Hong Kong also celebrate Halloween by decorating shop displays and streets with carved out pumpkins.
