11 Reasons This Easter Half Term Will Be the Best Ever

By AdeleThursday 26th March 2015

To make sure you have the best Easter half term yet, we’ve put together a list of the greatest ways you can make the most of your time off this spring. From having fun with your family in our brand new SeaPlex, to indulging in delicious chocolates in Belgium, with our help, this Easter half term is bound to be the best yet.

1. SeaPlex

A great way to have family fun this Easter half term is by taking advantage of our SeaPlex, a brand new area that features on our Quantum class ships. On the ground floor of SeaPlex, you and your kids can look forward to racing each other in bumper cars, gliding along on roller-skates to the latest pop hits, or scoring some points in a game of basketball. If you wander upstairs, you’ll also have the chance to enjoy a game of table tennis, or a play on the Xboxes.

2. Easter in the sun

If you want to celebrate Easter in the sunshine this year, then book a family trip to Greece. On top of the great weather, Greece is a place full of life during the Easter celebrations. Join local families as they come together to adorn epitaphios (religious icons) with decorations, eat traditional tsoureki bread, smash dyed red eggs, and sing hymns in honour of Christ’s resurrection.

3. Ice Cream Parlour

After a fun day in SeaPlex, why not treat your kids to an Easter delight in the ship’s Ice Cream Parlour. Pick out your favourite flavour, and enjoy a scoop or two while you relax in the springtime sunshine beside the pool.

4. Johnny Rockets

For a quick and easy family lunch, head over to Johnny Rockets, where you can dig into juicy burgers, tasty hot dogs and crispy fries, as well as creamy American-style milkshakes. With singing staff and delicious food, an Easter half term treat doesn’t get much better than a meal here.

5. Ripcord

Our Royal families got the chance to try out RipCord! Our Royal families got the chance to try out RipCord!
In the mood for a little adventure? Make your way over to our brand new Ripcord, a sky-diving simulator that lets you fly up into the air, inside a glass tunnel. Take in the panoramic views of the sea surrounding you, as you float up and spin through the air.

6. Indulge in Belgium

Belgium is renowned for making some of the best chocolate in the world, and with many of our cruises from the UK sailing to Bruges, you’ll be able to treat yourself and your little ones to some of the tastiest Easter eggs in Europe. One of the best chocolate shops is Dumon Chocolatier, where you can buy beautifully handcrafted chocolate eggs, chicks and bunnies for your kids to munch on.

7. FlowRider

Why waste your half term sat in front of a TV, when you and your kids can have a blast on our onboard surfing simulator, FlowRider? Beginners can learn how to balance on a surfboard and catch waves, whereas the more experienced amongst you can practise your surfing skills on the fast rushes of water.

8. La Patisserie

There’s nothing better than gorging on chocolate during Easter half term, and with our brand new La Patisserie café, you can do just that. Pick a selection from our mouth-wateringly good collection of chocolate, and enjoy them with a drink of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

9. Celebrate in Brazil

If you fancy travelling a little further afield this Easter, then a holiday to Brazil is a must. After the exciting and flamboyant carnivals of Mardi Gras, Brazil continues the Easter-themed celebrations by holding Mass in Catholic churches across the country, decorating the streets and sharing chocolate Easter eggs. São Paulo is a particularly great place to visit, as it’s home to an array of fantastic patisseries and chocolatiers.

10.  Kid’s Club

On top of all the amazing things to do, your kids can also join in with the onboard kid clubs. From toddler to teen, your family can get involved with a range of fun activities and great entertainment, which are bound to make half term-boredom a thing of the past.

11.  Hang out with bilbies in Australia

Rabbits weren’t always around in Australia, and are recognised as an introduced species. So, instead of the usual bunny-shaped chocolate figurines, kids are encouraged to celebrate Easter with bilby-shaped goodies. A bilby is a type of indigenous marsupial, somewhat similar to a rabbit in appearance. During your visit, in between lapping up the glorious sunshine and enjoying the beautiful beaches, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for any Easter bilbies!
