Meet the Farmer Family

Meet the Farmer family: Mum, Liz, Dad, Graham and their kids Josie, Sam and Eddie. They were one of two families crowned the winners of our Royal Family competition, and will now be enjoying a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise holiday – lucky them! We caught up with them before their big trip to find out what they’re expecting from their first-ever cruise experience.

As a family, where do you normally go on holiday?

Liz: In the past we’ve visited South of France and Scotland, as we are able to take our pet dog with us. We also went to the Bahama’s for Graham’s big 5-0, and that was stunning and everyone enjoyed it, mainly because the kids had so many activities to do.
Josie: Barbados was amazing, and we got to go water skiing.

What are you most looking forward to as a family?

Graham: The pools onboard look phenomenal, so I think we’re all really looking forward to those. We’re also looking forward to the types of activities we can do together, such as the surfing on the FlowRider! We’re all a bit competitive so I think we’ll be competing to see who can stay standing up the longest.

What are you expecting from this cruise holiday?

G: After our first visit onboard ship in Southampton, are expectations went sky-high! I expect there to be a lot going on, and we’ll probably lose the children as they’ll be off somewhere on the ship having fun. I look forward to when we sit down as a family to enjoy our evening meal – everybody will be talking about what they got up to that day.

Which of the onboard activities are the kids most looking forward to?

L: The kids definitely want to try the Flowrider; they’re desperate to try that. I’d quite like to try it too, as I’ve never been surfing – the kids all had a go during a holiday to Cornwall. The kids will love the skating rink, too.

Which port of call are you most looking forward to visiting?

G: Well, all of the islands and ports of call are fantastic: Jamaica, Mexico, and Haiti. I don’t know what to expect, but it’s great to go to places you’ve never been before, to explore and take in different cultures.

What type of food do you all like?

L: We all quite enjoy a curry, and like going out for meals together to eat pizza, pasta and steaks. We love going out to eat!

Wow, that all sounds delicious. Which of the on board restaurants will you visit first then?

G: The children want to go to Johnny Rockets, but we’d quite like to go the Italian restaurant, Giovanni’s.
L: I’d also love to try the sushi restaurant, Izumi, as I’ve only tried sushi once and fancy trying it again.

Who’s the most adventurous member of the family?

L: I think Eddie will be, but we’ll all be desperate to try everything onboard.
G: Yes, Eddie will be and the others. But I think we’re adventurous too, we’ll be at the top of the climbing wall before them!

Which of the shows will you watch?

L: I’m really looking forward to watching the musical Hairspray, but I’d also love to watch some of the comedy shows onboard too.
G: I’d quite like to see an ice show, they look great.

What do you think your rooms will be like?

L: I’ve seen some pictures, and I think we’ve got a really nice room.
G: yes, but I don’t think we’ll spend much time in the rooms apart from when we’re all sleeping. There’s so much to do onboard.

What’s your favourite holiday song?

G: I don’t think we really have a favourite holiday song.
L: Yes, when I’m on holiday I tend to listen to The Police and Sting and up-tempo, disco stuff.
G: In Barbados, Eddie loved the Gangnam Style song by Psy – he loves that song. No doubt, that by the end of the week there will be a brand new holiday song we’ll all be listening to.

The next chapter…

What a great family; we hope they have an amazing cruise holiday and we can’t wait to hear what they get up to. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on how the kids got on with the exciting activities, and how Liz and Graham enjoyed the onboard entertainment and fantastic restaurants.
