Lewis’ Quantum Class Adventure

On Friday 3rd April, we sent our friend Jason Bradbury to surprise one talented boy from Southampton with the prize of a lifetime. Lewis Vincent, 8, used his love of ships and skills in the game Minecraft, to create his own Royal Caribbean ship called Excellence of the Seas. As huge fans of ships, Lewis and his Dad, Aaron, spend hours watching the Royal ships sail in and out of Southampton’s docks. So, it comes as no surprise that Lewis used his love of naval architecture and engineering to create his very own virtual ship on the creative game Minecraft. Lewis’ superb design includes a range of fantastic features, from rollercoasters and slippery water slides, to helicopter pads for those who wish to enjoy a ride in the air! Lewis' design Lewis' design We were so impressed by Lewis’ talent that we decided to celebrate his creativity along with one of the top gadgetry experts we know, Jason Bradbury. Jason travelled all the way to Lewis’ school in Southampton, to surprise him and his family with a gift from us – a holiday on Anthem of the Seas for its pre-inaugural sailing, and a framed print of his amazing design. Lewis was blown away by the prize and Jason’s visit, who is someone he really looks up to. Lewis Minecraft visual Jason Bradbury told the Daily Echo: “I think it is great, it must be exciting being a kid in Southampton, it has so much heritage in terms of the docks and ships. It is easy to see why he is inspired by that. What I love is how he has used a digital platform to express himself and design his own ship."  We can’t thank Lewis enough for the ship he designed, and who knows, maybe in the not too distant future, you’ll be flying on helicopters over the Excellence of the Seas!
