Introducing our new ship Harmony of the Seas

By JoWednesday 25th February 2015

Join us in welcoming our newest ship, Harmony of the Seas, which is set to launch in April 2016, and will be the third in the Oasis class of ships.  The Oasis class was first introduced in 2009, featuring a revolutionary design that made way for the first-ever park at sea, with more than 12,000 live plants in the centre of the ship. With Harmony of the Seas, we’ve used the very best of Oasis’ brilliant design and created a brand new ship you’re bound to love.

Our President and CEO, Michael Bayley, can’t wait for you to get onboard, stating that with Harmony’s design, Royal have orchestrated “ […] a medley of new exciting concepts, with the best Royal Caribbean innovations to strike the perfect chord for adventurous vacationers.” Sounds great to us!

Innovative Design

In keeping with Oasis’ pioneering design, our brand new Harmony of the Seas will introduce the first ever multi-story waterslides onboard a Royal Caribbean ship. Three body slides will span three decks, with thrill-seekers taking off on deck 18, and turning and twisting their way down to the Pool and Sports Zone on deck 15. Two slides will be located on the port side and one on the starboard side, with latter featuring a champagne bowl that’ll swirl guests of all ages to the end of the slide.

The next generation Oasis-class ship will introduce some of the most spacious and luxurious staterooms in the Royal Caribbean fleet. With larger balcony and suite staterooms than her sister ships, new virtual balcony staterooms, additional loft staterooms (as well as the ever-popular Boardwalk and Central Park balcony staterooms) fans of Harmony of the Seas will have a wide range of accommodation styles to choose from.
Suite guests will also have a host of new areas for their exclusive use, from a suite lounge to a private-suites-only restaurant, Coastal Kitchen. This delightful eatery offers an amazing menu that fuses Mediterranean influences with the riches of California’s farmlands.

The Boardwalk neighbourhood onboard Harmony of the Seas will bring many of the same popular features as her sister ships, including a handcrafted carousel and a variety of casual restaurants, such as Johnny Rockets and the Boardwalk Dog House. In addition, Starbucks will move to the Boardwalk, offering guests delectable coffee and snacks.
Your kids will have their own playground onboard with the introduction of the Luckey Climber play area, located at the end of the Boardwalk. The neighbourhood will also feature the iconic AquaTheater, an impressive outdoor venue at the stern of the ship that’s dedicated to our spectacular water shows.
You’ll find innovative features along Harmony of the Seas’ Royal Promenade, which include the Bionic Bar, which is powered by Makr Shakr. First introduced onboard the recently-debuted Quantum of the Seas, the Bionic Bar is made up of robotic bartenders, who can mix up any spirit-based drink you like, from classic cocktails to one-of-a-kind concoctions that can be crafted by you. The ship will also feature popular favourites, such as the Rising Tide bar, a moving bar at sea that covers three decks, as well as the Schooner’s Pub Bar, a photography gallery and Boleros Latin dance club.

Our brand new way of eating, Dynamic Dining, will allow you to experience vast and varied dining that can match even world’s most cosmopolitan cities, providing you with more choice and flexibility than ever before. Those preferring a more traditional cruise dining style can select the “Classic” option, which will offer two set dinner seating times, with their dining group and favourite waiter every evening.
On top of this, new speciality restaurants, such as Wonderland, Izumi Hibaci & Sushi and Sabor Modern Mexican Restaurant, will give you the chance to experience a unique food adventure. For example, at Wonderland, not only will you get to eat great food, you’ll also be transported by Royal Caribbean’s top chefs into a world of imagination and culinary excitement.

Harmony of the Seas will span 16 decks, encompass 227,000 gross registered tons, carry up to 5,479 guests in the 2,747 staterooms. It will feature Royal Caribbean’s exclusive neighbourhood concept of seven distinct themed areas, which will include Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Centre, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone.

Itineraries for Harmony of the Seas will be announced in March 2015, so keep your eyes peeled for any upcoming news.
