Getting to know Navigator of the Seas

Every single one of our ships is unique. They come in all shapes and sizes, with different features and facilities, and they cruise the seas taking guests to wildly different, yet consistently amazing, destinations. In this blog post we’re interviewing a firm favourite from our Voyager Class, so that you can get to know this particular ship a little better. Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce, Navigator of the Seas®.

What perks you up in the morning?

The first thing that gets me up in the morning is the fresh sea air and, if I’m docked, the sights and sounds of an interesting new place. I’m also a strong believer in the importance of breakfast – it’s the most important meal of the day – so I always make sure I have something to keep me going. A cup of coffee from Café Promenade and something light from Windjammer Café is one of my favourite combinations.
Enjoy world-class entertainment at the Metropolis Theatre Enjoy world-class entertainment at the Metropolis Theatre

Casino or theatre?

Both! Although it depends what kind of entertainment I’m in the mood for. It’s really fun to see the fantastic performers on stage at the Metropolis Theatre – they do everything from Broadway-style theatre to modern musicals – but I also love taking a seat at Casino Royale and trying my hand at Blackjack, Roulette or Caribbean Stud Poker.

How would you spend a lazy Sunday afternoon?

Sundays are made for relaxing – that’s a fact. My ideal day would include a luxurious treatment at the Vitality Sea Spa, maybe a massage or a facial, and a few hours spent poolside. I like to relax into one of the sun loungers and immerse myself in a book. Afterwards I feel completely relaxed and refreshed.
Stop by Sabor Modern Mexican for some delicious food and tequila. Stop by Sabor Modern Mexican for some delicious food and tequila.

What’s your favourite type of food?

That’s a tough one because I love all kinds of food, but if I had to pick just one it would have to be Mexican. Sabor Modern Mexican is my go-to restaurant when I’m after a taste of Mexican cuisine, and I’m never disappointed. Sabor means flavour and that’s exactly how I’d describe their food: full of flavour (and absolutely delicious!).

How do you get ready for the beach?

I like to look my best on the beach, so I try and keep fit by visiting the Fitness Centre for a run, testing my strength on the Rock Climbing Wall or shooting some hoops on the basketball court. Flowrider® is another favourite of mine, if I’m feeling adventurous! Riding a wave is an incredible experience.
1960s-style cocktails await at R Bar. 1960s-style cocktails await at R Bar.

What’s great for kids?

Kids are spoilt for choice. There’s the Navigator Dunes 9-hole mini golf course, the outdoor cinema and, of course, the amazing kid’s clubs. Royal Babies and Tots caters to kids as young as 6 months, and Adventure Ocean has different clubs for kids up to the age of 17. There are great activities and fun events which they’ll love.

Where do you go to get a cocktail?

My favourite place to get a cocktail has to be the all new R Bar. This brand new bar is decked out with 1960s furnishings and it serves the kinds of cocktails you’d expect during that time – gimlets, martinis and many more. All the drinks are prepared by special mixologists and I can honestly tell you they’re delicious.

Where are you looking forward to visiting in 2016?

There are so many places I’m looking forward to in 2016. I’ll be in the Caribbean early in the year, which is great because I’ll get to escape the cold weather. Then, later in the year, I’ll get to explore the Mediterranean, Russia, Norway, the Canaries, North Africa and many other fantastic destinations. I’m looking forward to visiting them all!
