Building Extraordinary

By JoTuesday 17th January 2017

What do you think of when you imagine the ultimate cruise ship? Sunbathing next to a pool on the top deck, staring out at the sea with a cocktail in hand? Or perhaps a night at one of our specialty restaurants, sat with your loved ones? We thought it would be best to ask those with the most active imaginations that we could find, in order to get the most extraordinary ideas.

Corey and Cole (6), Leon (4), Summiyah (3) and Isabella (7), were the perfect candidates to ask about their imaginary ultimate ship. We wanted them to get creative with their ideas, and what better tool to put children’s minds to the test than a load of colourful, malleable Play-Doh? We provided the children with a hefty supply and asked them to use their imagination and (quite frankly, top notch) artistic skills to create what they thought their ‘ultimate ship’ would look like. We certainly didn’t know what to expect!
After a few exciting hours of getting messy and putting their brains together, the children had finished their masterpiece. The concept of the ‘ultimate ship’ was certainly taken from an imaginative angle; the final product a mixture of multi-colored stepping stones, wonky trees and funnily shaped bridges resembled something from Charlie in The Chocolate Factory. And even though the kids didn’t produce anything quite like we’d picture, it was certainly entertaining while watching their sheer determination, positivity and extraordinary teamwork!
So, if you were to be an unlimited amount of Play-Doh, how would your ‘ultimate’ ship look if you could let your imagination go wild? Would it be every colour of the rainbow? Would it have a rollercoaster onboard? How does your imagination compare to that of somebody under 10 years old? Well, you’ll just have to watch the video and find out for yourself!
