The Anthem of the Seas Roundup

By JoFriday 24th April 2015

Anthem of the Seas

Between the 18th and 20th April 2015, the rest of the Royal team and I hopped onboard Anthem of the Seas for its pre-inaugural sailing from Southampton. During our time onboard, we were able to experience some of the ship’s top features, such as the sky-high North Star and Ripcord by iFly. To help you get to grips with our brand new ship, we’ve put together a guide to some of its best features, from the amazing food available, to the endlessly entertaining SeaPlex.

There’s so much to do…

Anthem of the Seas

Day

From my last sip of coffee in the morning, to sitting down for my evening meal, I didn’t stop – there was just so much to do! From sky diving on Ripcord by iFly and racing your friends in the SeaPlex’s bumper cars, to rising 300-feet above the sea in the North Star and climbing to the top of the towering rock wall, there’s something for everyone.

Night

Anthem of the Seas After dinner, we were able to make the most of the nightlife onboard. Just like the daytime entertainment, there’s so much to see and do, from singing along to We Will Rock You in the Royal Theatre, to dancing the night away in the Music Hall. However, my favourite Quantum-only experience is the Two70, a top-of-the-range venue that includes dancing robotic screen, transforming stage design and captivating performances by some of the world’s best dancers, singers and actors.

The technology is fantastic

Anthem of the Seas On top of the robotic screens of Two70, the technology onboard has led to improvements right across the ship. Not only will you get to benefit from super-fast Wi-Fi and RFID technology (Radio-Frequency Identification), you’ll also get to take advantage of the special Apps onboard, which allow the onboard staff to utilise your data to tailor a more unique experience for you. As well as helping you, the technology also consists of sophisticated computer modelling that’s been used to reduce the ship’s energy consumption with more efficient hull configuration, engine design and energy saving devices. In short, technology is helping to make our ships a lot greener and environmentally friendly.

Mouth-watering food is abundant

silk pudding There’s one thing that’s certain about enjoying a getaway onboard Anthem of the Seas, and that’s that you’ll never go hungry. Plus, with the Dynamic Dining Classic and Choice options, you’ll have the freedom to eat wherever, whenever and with whomever you wish. This is perfect, because you’ll need all the time you have to sample the delectable dishes on offer. I enjoyed a divine meal of teriyaki beef in the Asian-fusion restaurant Silk, but couldn’t get enough of the fantastic range of food in the ever popular Windjammer Café.

What’s next for Anthem?

Anthem of the Seas During the upcoming months of spring and summer, Anthem will be sailing between Southampton and some of Europe’s most beautiful cities. And, once autumn arrives, we’ll be saying goodbye to Anthem as she sets sail to her new home at Cape Liberty Cruise Port in New York Harbour, where she'll sail to and from the Caribbean.
