6 Things You Never Knew About Independence of the Seas

Independence of the Seas has long been a favourite of many Royal Caribbean guests, with its array of features and modern facilities. We know how many of you love Independence, so we’ve decided to give you the inside scoop and fill you in on six little-known facts about this wonderful ship.

1. The ship is 339 metres long

Independence of the Seas is a massive 339 metres long – that’s nearly half a kilometre! – and not a single centimetre is wasted. We’ve packed it full of amazing activities for you and your family, including the incredible FlowRider surf simulator and a nine-hole miniature golf course, to make your stay as fun as it possibly can be.

2. You can bring your own ice skates

After having a go on the ice, catch the professionals in action at one of our spectacular ice shows. Although ice skates are available onboard, if you’re an avid skater why not bring your own pair along? Maybe you didn’t know you could – well now you do! Pack your own ice skates and take full advantage of the onboard rink, which measures an impressive 17.9 metres x 9.6 metres. Strap on your skates and make yourself at home on the ice, before showing off your very best ice skating moves.

3. 4,375 guests can stay on Independence

With 1,817 staterooms spread throughout the ship, Independence of the Seas can hold a total of 4,375 guests at any one time. That’s why our ships are such great places to meet new people and make lots of new friends.

4. Enjoy complimentary Ben & Jerry’s onboard

Ben & Jerry’s, the undisputed king of ice cream, has set up shop on Independence of the Seas in their very own SWEET Stateroom. Visit room 6305, which has been set up with cow-themed accessories, and enjoy some complimentary ice cream. 5. There’s a full size basketball court

Keep fit and have a whole lot of fun at the full size basketball court, which you’ll find onboard Independence of the Seas. The court is 29 metres long and 15 metres wide, giving you plenty of space to shoot some hoops with your family and friends. You and your friends can enjoy a game of basketball together. 6. There are five onboard clubs

When it comes to nightlife onboard Independence of the Seas, you can take you pick from no less than five clubs. Olive or Twist is the place for jazz-lovers, while Schooner Bar is the perfect spot to hear a bit of piano. You can even belt out a song or two at our karaoke bar, On Air Club. For the cigar connoisseurs amongst you there’s the Connoisseur Club, our onboard cigar lounge, while dancers can dance the night away at Catacombs.
