Your Top Cruise Destinations: 2nd place – Hawaii

By HarryFriday 05th July 2013

Hawaii

We’ve been counting up your votes on our Facebook page and you’ve shown a lot of passion for Hawaii. The exotic islands are so popular that you’ve voted Hawaii your second top cruise destination.

The isolation of these sun-drenched islands (Hawaii is more than 2,000 miles away from other land, making it one of the most remote island chains in the world), means a cruise ship is an ideal way of crossing the expanse of sea and enjoying impressive views as you sail up to the volcanic, green lands. You can choose to depart from Vancouver, British Columbia or leave the sea stretch until the end of your holiday and explore the Hawaiian Islands first. We asked our Facebook fans “Royal Caribbean sail to a range of destinations around the globe, where do you want to visit most?” Here’s what you said about these islands… “Hawaii. Been there and it’s really beautiful, you'll love it.” Carol Christie “Hawaii, Fuji, Bora Bora.” Debbie Buter-Goede “I'm with you here Hawaii and Polynesia.” Denise Webster “I would love to be enjoying the sunshine in Hawaii” Nicola Harris-Cameron Here are some Hawaiian highlights…

Hilo

Hilo is found on Hawaii’s Big Island and is overflowing, literally, with water falls, exotic gardens and rainforests.  Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, sits here within the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, a short 45-minute drive south. We think you’ll be in awe of this roaring volcano, treasured by Hawaiians as a sacred place. If you’d rather keep your distance, you can admire the volcano from the water on our evening sail. Set against a lush background with a burning sun meeting the horizon, this sight will linger on in your memory long after the ship has sailed! Sea Turtle, Honokahau, Kona, Hawaii.

Kailua Kona

The pretty little seaside town of Kailua Kona has a bustling atmosphere. This is the place to wander the quaint streets, pick up some gifts for your loved-ones back home, snack on delicious local food at open-air restaurants and watch the sunset at Kailua Bay. Head to the main road of Alii Drive for souvenirs and people watching or see what’s swimming in Hawaii’s tropical waters on our glass bottom boat reef tour.

Nawiliwili (Kauai)

Leaving the Big Island behind, it’s on to Kauai, the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands. Soaring cliffs and Waimea Canyon create a dramatic landscape for you to explore. See the best of it from 3,400 feet high on our Waimea Canyon Tour. Polihale Kauai

Honolulu, Oahu

If you’re a nature-lover you’ll be astounded by the natural beauty of Oahu Island. Learn how volcanoes have shaped Oahu’s landscape and get up close to the humpback whales which swim its waters – an experienced guide will show you the best of it on our Natural Highlights of Oahu tour.

Victoria, British Columbia

You have lots of options for exploring the city of Victoria including by foot, horse-drawn carriage or try a tour with a difference - viewing Victoria and the harbour from the boat that floats. Next month, we’ll be bringing you a round-up of your number one cruise destination as voted by our Facebook fans. Have you been on our Hawaii Cruises? What was your favourite memory?
