Mexico is a country rich with history, culture and amazing food! It’s also a beautiful destination to explore, with white, sandy beaches, lush forests and fascinating wildlife. So, whether you’re planning to enjoy a cruise to the sun-kissed beaches of Cozumel, or want to explore a little further afield, Mexico has something for everyone in your family. Take a look at our top picks for things to do and see during your time in Mexico.

Ecoparque Cuzam

Image and video hosting by TinyPic If you’re cruising to Mexico, you will dock at Cozumel in the Caribbean, a stunning island just off the coast of mainland Mexico. For a little bit of family fun, be sure to make Ecoparque Cuzam the first stop of your holiday! At the heart of the jungle-like forest you’ll find a whole range of exciting things to do, from zip-lining 80-feet in the air, to a gentle horse ride through the scenic countryside. If you’re travelling with teenagers, then paintballing is a great way to let off some steam as a family; the deep forest provides some top hiding spots too! If you’d rather just relax and unwind, then make your way over to the park’s pools, where you’ll be able to sit back and take in the rays.

Discover Mexico

Image and video hosting by TinyPic If you only plan to spend the one day in Cozumel, then the Discover Mexico theme park is a must! Picture this: all the historic sites and famous ruins of ancient Mexico, all in one place! Miniature versions of monuments, exhibits of award winning pieces of local art and the Video Experience Room, which displays emotional expressions of Mexico’s heritage, are just some of the many areas of the park you can explore and learn from during your time there.

Explore the Tulum ruins

Image and video hosting by TinyPic If you get a chance to spend a little longer in Mexico, take a short boat trip to the mainland and enjoy a day of exploring the Tulum city ruins. The pre-Columbian Mayan ruins, located on the coast’s 12-metre high cliffs, are one of the last areas to be inhabited and built by the Mayans. Overlooking aqua blue water and powder-white beaches, this ancient city is a true delight. As you wander through, be sure to make your way past the remnants of the crumbling castle, El Castillo, and the spiritual Temple of the Frescoes, a place once used to track and observe the activity of the sun. Keep an eye out for the beautiful Mayan figures of gods, which are used to decorate the temple’s interiors.

Stand and admire the Centro Historico

This historical centre of Mexico City is a hub of culture, surrounded by architectural wonders, such as the city hall and the largest cathedral in the Americas, Catedral Metropolitana de la Asunción de María. Admire the cathedral’s stunning, stone carved exterior as you make your way in, where you’ll encounter the glittering, gold altar – a definite WOW moment.

Enjoy a boat ride at Xochimilco

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Finish your time in Mexico City by enjoying a boat ride in the sun, along the canals of Xochimilco. The brightly painted Trajinera boats come in all sorts of colours, and are what makes this experience truly one of a kind. So, just hop on board, sing along with the local Mariachi bands and enjoy the ride!
