Top 5 Things to do in Cannes

By HarryTuesday 20th May 2014

This May welcomes the 67th Cannes Film Festival, a celebration of some of the cinema produced from around the world. With films from the Hollywood stars, Tommy Lee Jones and Ryan Gosling, making their debut, it’s sure to be a truly glamorous event; but what else can you do in Cannes? From gorgeous beaches to enjoying an authentic Provençal family meal, we’ve put together a guide on how to make the most of your time in Cannes.

  1. Le Suquet

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Le Suquet is the old quarter of Cannes, and a truly charming place to visit during your holiday there. Walk along the cobbled, narrow paths towards The Castre Museum, a wonderful place to spend a morning with your kids. Enjoy a guided tour around the museum’s ancient artefacts and works of art, or join your kids for a day of arts and crafts. If museum’s aren’t your thing then simply enjoy the scenery and the rows of rocking yachts in the harbour, as you wander in and out of Le Suquet’s quaint cafés and shops.
  1. Forville Market

Locally caught fish, fresh flowers and delicious cheeses are just a handful of items you’ll be able to buy during your time there – perfect for when your kids fancy a snack. The main market is open 7am until 1pm on Tuesday through to Sunday, with a special flea market open on Mondays between 8am until 6pm.
  1. La Croisette

Better known for its long line of designer boutiques, La Croisette is also home to a small fun fair. Instead of window shopping, you and your family will get to play fun games and enjoy ice creams beside the sea. Watch as your kids twirl around on the carousel, and zoom up and down on the rides – a great way to take advantage of the wonderfully warm, Mediterranean climate.
  1. Île Sainte-Marguerite

Hike along the grassland with your family, or relax by the coast with a delicious picnic. If you and your kids love water sports then why not try out body boarding? It’s a fun, but safe, activity your whole family is bound to love.
  1. Fun City

To keep your little ones happy, head over to Fun City, an indoor playground for kids and their family. Sit back and relax with a cup of coffee at the playground’s café, and watch your kids have the time of their lives as they jump on bouncy castles, clamber over giant inflatables and whizz down slides. If one of your kids is having a birthday, then treat your whole family to a magic show, trampolines and even more giant inflatables to bounce up and down on – the perfect party!
