Relax on the Best Family Friendly Beaches

By HarryTuesday 24th September 2013

Labadee, Haiti

You’re onshore for the day and want to fit in plenty of beach-time. But how do you know where the best family friendly beaches are? This is a holiday for the whole family so you’ll want something for everyone, which means plenty to keep the kids entertained and somewhere you can relax. Safety is almost certainly top of wish list - we’re talking a gradual slope into calm waters and plenty of facilities to keep you all happy. These family friendly beaches will definitely meet your criteria…

Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman

Turquoise water laps at coral-sands, stretching for miles and miles along the Grand Cayman Islands’ west shore. This is the ultimate Caribbean destination and a great family friendly beach. If you want to stay active, you can snorkel in its shallow waters. Cemetery Beach, found in the northern most part of Seven Mile Beach is a top area for snorkelling. Find a spot for a picnic under the trees or there are lots of resort restaurants and public beach bars along the shore to grab a lunch.

If you want to cruise somewhere close to home, Majorca is a popular destination for beach-goers. Only about 40 minutes from Palma de Mallorca, El Trenc is definitely a child-friendly beach with its gentle slope into clear waters. Backed by a national park of woodlands and sand dunes, the beach is unspoiled and well-preserved. You can also bury your toes in the fine, white sand here, grab a sunbed or relax under a shady parasol. When you’re feeling peckish there’s a restaurant and bar nearby to pick up a snack.

Labadee, Haiti

Guests of all ages are happy to spend days unwinding on Labadee beach. This private island paradise is safe and fun for families. Lounge on the sand and watch others in the distance ride the zip line. It’s easy to reach all areas of this peninsula on foot, from the landing dock or you can catch the open air shuttle to get you there quicker. Kids can whizz down the floating waterslides at the waterpark and adults can whizz down the Dragon’s Breath zip line from the top of the hill to the beach. You can grab lunch and snacks at the main café at the resort and pop into one of several bars scattered along the beach. Then sip a beer while your kids sip on water from coconuts fresh from the tree!

Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel is one of our favourite destinations in the world. Its beaches are beautiful, the locals are friendly and it has all the facilities families could ever need. Cozumel is also a snorkeler’s dream as the island is surrounded by the second largest coral reef in the world. The most popular beaches are a short 15 minute taxi ride from the port. Paradise Beach is a popular spot as there is no entrance fee. You’ll just need to pay extra for the water activities and a small fee for sun loungers. To escape the crowds you could try our Passion Island Escapes excursion. Heading to this private island on a catamaran you’ll have hours of glorious relaxation time on the beach. Lounge in a hammock or take a dip while kids are kept busy on the water trampoline, playing beach games or snorkelling in the crystal waters. A yummy Mexican buffet lunch is also included.
