Our Favourite Destinations for 2017

By HarryFriday 08th April 2016

Beautiful Bonaire. Beautiful Bonaire.

With 2016 well under way and summer fast-approaching, we’ve already started planning our 2017 adventures. And they’re set to be our best yet! Brand new destinations will be joining our classic ports of call, making for inspired itineraries, exciting holidays and memories which will last a lifetime.

In this post, we’re giving you the inside scoop on a few of our favourite destinations for 2017. We hope you love them as much as we do!

Kralendijk

Where is it? Its name may be Dutch, but Kralendijk is the capital of Bonaire, an island in the South Caribbean. A special municipality of the Netherlands, Bonaire can be found just off the coast of Venezuela near Curaçao and Aruba. What makes it special? Like many of its Caribbean counterparts, Kralendijk, which translates to ‘coral reef’, is blessed with an incredible underwater ecosystem – perfect for keen snorkelers and divers. When not exploring the reef, visitors to Kralendijk can discover Fort Oranje, tour the island on horseback or kayak through the beautiful mangroves. Don’t miss… Klein Bonaire, an uninhabited islet of Bonaire’s west coast. It is, undoubtedly, the best spot for diving and snorkelling. Take a look at our 2017 holidays to Kralendijk.

Oslo

Next year, discover Oslo. Next year, discover Oslo. Where is it? Oslo, the capital of Norway, is located in the southern part of the country, with Sweden to the east and Denmark to the south. Although close to some of Norway’s most beautiful fjords, this bustling global city couldn’t seem more far away. What makes it special? Home to countless museums, world-class galleries and a thriving restaurant scene, Oslo has enough to keep you busy for days… and days! For contemporary art visit the Astrup Fearnley Museet, on Oslo’s waterfront, followed by the Norsk Folkemuseum where you can learn about Norway’s unique history. Don’t miss… Krumkake. Satisfy your sweet tooth with this cone-shaped waffle cookie made from flour, butter, eggs and sugar and filled with cream. Take a look at our 2017 holidays to Oslo

Saint Petersburg

The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. Where is it? Located on Russia’s far west coast, nestled between Finland and Estonia, Saint Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia. The city looks out over the Gulf of Finland and is divided in two halves by the Neva River.  What makes it special? Once an unknown city, Saint Petersburg has, in recent years, become an incredibly popular holiday destination. Maybe it’s the breath-taking palaces, perhaps it’s the underground music scene, or could it be the spectacular Church of the Savior on Blood? Whatever it is, Saint Petersburg is truly unforgettable. Don’t miss… The Marinsky Theatre. This beautiful old theatre has hosted many musical masters and is home to a prestigious ballet school. Take a look at our 2017 holidays to Saint Petersburg

Lisbon

A hilltop view of Lisbon. A hilltop view of Lisbon. Where is it? Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, can be found on the banks of the River Tagus on Portugal’s south west coast. Due to its location, the western parts of the city are the westernmost point of Continental Europe. What makes it special? Lisbon is known for its lovely weather, hilltop views and, more recently, its enviable food scene. Amazing eateries, from casual cafes to Michelin-starred restaurants, are dotted throughout the city, in grand plazas, alongside ancient buildings and lining the streets of the old quarters. Don’t miss… Praça do Comércio, a spectacular riverfront square dating back to the 18th Century. Take a look at our 2017 holidays to Lisbon
