Discover Dining in Dubrovnik

By HarryFriday 29th August 2014

With its wonderfully preserved historical architecture, stunning beaches and forests, a holiday to the Croatian city of Dubrovnik is like no other. Nestled on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, you’ll benefit from both the climate and food of the Mediterranean: an amazing combination of fresh seafood, tantalising spices and glorious summers.

So, whether you’re planning your next Mediterranean cruise, or just looking for a place to eat out on your current holiday, be sure to take a look at our top tips for dining out in Dubrovnik.

The perfect lunch break

A great place to stop by for a bite to eat is Pantarul, a Croatian and Mediterranean based restaurant that is just a 15-minute walk from the protected Petka forests – perfect for a mid-morning stroll. As well as the larger main courses, you’ll also have the option of smaller tapas-style dishes, which is great if you’re just looking for something light. The dishes available in Pantarul range from the comforting cheese fondue to the exquisite polenta and truffles, and duck liver mousse.

Fancy something a little different?

Give Restaurant Dubrovnik a go; it’s located right in the middle of the city’s Old Town, neatly concealed along the charming narrow streets and stone paths – blink and you’ll miss it! This place is great for lunch; a popular choice is the seafood stew and lightly seared tuna steak, but the beef carpaccio is also a firm favourite with the locals. For refreshments, choose from a range of locally sourced wine, or celebrate your holiday with a sparkling peach Bellini.

In the mood for something sweet?

If your kids are craving something sugary, you’ll be pleased to know that Dubrovnik is home to many mouth-watering cake and treat shops to satisfy your little ones’ sweet tooth. On a hot summer’s day, take advantage of the delicious frozen yoghurt at Yogomania. You and your kids can choose from a number of flavours and toppings, from seasonal fresh fruit, to indulgent chocolate drops and rainbow sprinkles – yum!   Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a little more grown-up, be sure to treat yourself to crêpes and gelato at the Dolce Vita café. The crêpes are large and the gelatos come in a range of amazing flavours, from zingy orange (that’s made from the juice and zest of locally grown oranges), to the all-American classic of apple pie.

Fancy a quick coffee?

If you’re just looking for a place to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee, then look no further than Honey Bunch. This quaint shop, come café offers guests a range of delicious fresh juices and smoothies, on top of a range of hot drinks and tasty bars of chocolate. Not only that, it’s renowned for being pro-organic and pro-Fairtrade, making drinking there all the sweeter.
