Dubai Destination Focus – A Family Holiday to Dubai

By AdeleTuesday 09th June 2015

Dubai is glitzy, glamourous and unique. We love the diversity of this city, as there’s so much to see and do, whatever your age. Traditional Arabian souqs sit alongside shiny new shopping centres, and jaw-dropping skyscrapers stand where there was once barren desert. Whether you’re here for the amazing shopping opportunities, or simply to soak up the sun on the beach, we’ve got your perfect family holiday to Dubai sorted.

With Vision of the Seas, you can enjoy your family holiday from the moment you step onboard, whether you’re relaxing as a family by the pool, being WOWed by performances at the Centrum or enjoying world-class food at one of our amazing dining experiences. We’ve got some amazing shore excursions lined up for your Dubai visit, with trips to Palm Island Jumeirah and the Burj Khalifa Lake, so you get the chance to see the modern metropolis that is Dubai.

The Wonders of Dubai

Let us guide you through the magnificent engineering feats that have made Dubai famous. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, and it’s an amazing thing for all the family to see. It’s a work of art, and has put Dubai on the map as a forward-thinking city in an ever-changing world. Why not take a lift up to the 122nd floor and enjoy a drink with a view? Or get inspired by the hundreds of works of art that can be found along the Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, and within the Burj Khalifa itself. It’s a great place to take kids, as you can teach them about the idea of global harmony, and the importance of linking different cultures, which are the themes of many of the artworks in and around the Burj Khalifa. Another feat of creative engineering, the Palm Island Jumeirah is a manmade island that was finished in 2009. Home to luxury houses, hotels, shops and restaurants, the island was the first of its kind, and it’s like nothing you’ve seen before.

Arabian Art and Culture

Highlighting the many different aspects of Dubai’s art and culture, this tour will take you through the Miraj Islamic Art Centre. This amazing museum, art gallery, and showroom presents authentic works of art from this incredible part of the world. Enjoy creative artworks in the form of ancient calligraphy, traditional Islamic sculptures, authentic woodworking, and even jewellery, textile and tapestry work. This is a great excursion to take the kids on, as they get to learn about traditional Islamic craftsmanship.

Dune Dinner Safari

We’ve always been WOWed by the desert and its mysterious charm. You’ll be led over undulating sand dunes by a team of safari guides, who will ensure every aspect of your evening is magical. After arriving safely at a Bedouin tent, you can have your hands painted with beautiful henna designs, an ancient form of creative expression. You’ll also get the chance to ride a camel across the desert, and try a “sheesha” or Arabic water pipe. Finally, a beautiful meal will be presented which will include grilled meats and fresh crisp salads. If you fancy something sweet, try a traditional Arabic dessert before relaxing to bewitching music, complete with belly dancers.

Shop ‘til you drop at Dubai’s souqs

Outside of our fantastic shore excursions, shopping is a great way to spend time in Dubai. The city is packed with fantastic areas to shop, with places like the Souq Madinat Jumeirah offering up luxurious recreations of traditional Middle Eastern souqs, with palm trees lining the surrounding waterways and wood-carved archways creating a chic, more modern version of a traditional experience. The sights and smells of souqs are fascinating, and we love the Spice Souq, near to the Deira Old Souq abra station. This market is a little more authentic than some of Dubai’s more contemporary souqs, and it’s a great place to find fruits, fragrances, spices and incense burners. Kids will love the glittering stalls of the Gold Souq, which are overflowing with lavish gold jewelleries and charms, and can be found in the Deira part of the city.

Are you inspired to explore the wonders of Dubai? It’s a great option for a family holiday, so start planning your next trip!
