Discover Scandinavia with Royal Caribbean

Here at Royal Caribbean, we’re big fans of trying something new, so if you’re looking for a cruise holiday with a bit of a difference, you’ve come to the right place. For a completely unique travelling experience, we recommend heading north from the UK to explore the breathtaking landscape of Scandinavia. From the majestic fjords to the achingly cool cities, you will find something amazing to make you go WOW around every corner in this beautiful part of the world.

To get you inspired for your next cruise adventure, take a look at some of these highlights and discover Scandinavia with Royal Caribbean!

Norwegian Fjords

A visit to Norway is an experience you’ll never forget. The ancient, unspoilt landscape coupled with the mythical history of the country will leave a feeling of awe and wonder that will stay with you long after you’ve left. And cruising through the fjords really allows you to experience the serenity and magnificence like no other, especially with our 8-night Norwegian Fjords Cruise onboard our beautiful Explorer of the Seas in 2015. Image and video hosting by TinyPic Flåm is situated at the innermost part of the 29km Aurlandsfjord tributary, which branches off the impressive 205km Sognefjord, Norway’s longest fjord. Take a stroll around the pretty little town and browse the shops, before you catch a ride on the  Flåm Railway, from where you can admire the spectacular views below. Image and video hosting by TinyPic Geiranger is a pretty little village sat on the shores of the stunning 20km-long Geirangerfjord, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you can spend the day relaxing at your leisure, or take a tour to see some of the incredible waterfalls that tumble down the sheer cliffs into the fjord, including the Seven Sisters and the Suitor.

Reykjavík, Iceland

Image and video hosting by TinyPic If you’re looking for a slightly longer break, why not try our 12-night Fjords & Iceland Cruise, on which you can explore a little more of Northern Europe. As well as the beautiful fjords of Norway, you will also sail on to the northernmost capital city in the world of Reykjavík in Iceland, onboard the aptly named Brilliance of the Seas. The streets of pretty paint box-coloured houses are wonderfully offset against the backdrop of towering, ice-capped peaks and the vast expanse of dark blue ocean lapping at the city’s shores. Spend a day simply strolling around the city, dipping in and out of the boutique shops, before an evening sipping a cocktail in one of the many stylish bars. Alternatively, get out of the city for a few hours and take a tour of the incredible Blue Lagoon, and a rejuvenating dip in the natural geothermal mineral waters.

Stockholm, Sweden

Image and video hosting by TinyPic To explore a different side of Scandinavian culture, take a look at our 12-night Scandinavia And Russia Cruise, also onboard the Brilliance of the Seas. You’ll visit Denmark, Estonia, Russia and Finland before arriving in the vibrant, cosmopolitan capital city of Stockholm in Sweden. Stockholm is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful capital cities in the world, with its palette of pastel-coloured buildings that look charming whether against a blue summer sky, or frosted with fresh white powdery snow in the winter months. Stockholm is world-renowned for its stylish edge and sleek design, so you can easily spend an afternoon hopping between the many islands of this archipelago city, browsing the numerous boutiques and studios to do a bit of shopping. If you’re looking for culture, there are plenty of fascinating museums in which you can while away the hours. For something a little more unusual, discover the history of the Nobel Prize at the Nobelmuseet, where the story of the awards and their recipients is told through fascinating imagery and short films. Or get the kids interested in history, and take one of the guided Viking tours that will take you out of the city to visit ancient sites where you will learn the truth about these intrepid sailors.

Scandinavia Awaits!

There are few places left in the world that manage to retain so much natural beauty, whilst also offering the latest in design and cultural movements, but Scandinavia is loaded with both!

Tell us in the comments below which incredible Scandinavian country you most want to visit, or even share a WOW moment of your own from a past Northern Europe cruise holiday!
