A city break to Europe is a great way to see some amazing sights, explore different cultures and enjoy delicious food. Here’s our guide on how to make the most of a post-Easter break to Bruges and Paris.

Eat chocolate, and plenty of it!

Bruges

Image and video hosting by TinyPic A city renowned for producing a high quality of chocolate. After arriving in Bruges the perfect place to stop by is The Old Chocolate House. This family run chocolate shop is the ideal way to start an Easter break in Bruges; treat you and your kids to a selection of white, milk and dark chocolate, as well as homemade biscuits, gingerbread and Belgian waffles. They also mould and create their own Easter eggs and bunnies for kids, and adults alike, to enjoy – perfect! Image and video hosting by TinyPic If you’re looking for something a little more upmarket, head to Depla Chocolatierie, another family run business that has been around since 1958. Sample melt-in-your-mouth truffles, sweet white chocolate manons, and delicate, pretty pressed flowers layered over delicious, creamy chocolate – truly beautiful.

Paris

During your time there, be sure to try the shop’s renowned chocolate éclair and the chocolatier’s handmade smooth ganache, nutty praline and tasty truffles. Over Easter La Maison du Chocolat’s chocolatiers get to work to create amazing Easter eggs, and chocolate bunnies for your kids to enjoy – they also offer adult egg boxes.  Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Bruges delights

Image and video hosting by TinyPic After enjoying the local chocolate treats, be sure to explore the beautiful architecture and charming cobbled streets of Bruges. A great way to get around with kids is by bike, there are plenty of bike rentals around the city at a variety of prices, so you’re bound to find one that suits both your family and budget.  If you want to see the sights at a slightly slower pace then take a tour of Bruges with a horse drawn carriage. Feeling peckish? Take a stroll around Markt Square where you’ll get to ogle and try mouth-watering Flemish delicacies, as well as hand-crafted trinkets. A great way to end your day in Bruges is to walk the 366 steps to the top of the Belfry, where you’ll be able to take in the spectacular, panoramic views of the city and surrounding land.

Parisian sights

Image and video hosting by TinyPic As well as the amazing chocolate available, there are plenty of other great things to try out during your time in Paris. For a relaxing and scenic walk visit Jardin du Luxembourg, a beautiful park full of blooming pink, purple and orange flowers, as well as blossoming, emerald trees that line the paths. For something a little livelier, enjoy yummy scoops of ice cream, a pony ride and even a spin on the merry-go-round! Another obvious choice is Disneyland Paris, where your kids will get to meet their Disney heroes, whizz around on exciting rides and enjoy fantastically fun parades at the end of the day. Another must-see is, of course, the Eiffel Tower. Ride to highest point, and gaze across the city’s landscape - a definite WOW moment.
