Beat the post-summer blues in Dubai

By HarryWednesday 30th September 2015

Discover the Dubai Desert. Discover the Dubai Desert.

As the nights draw in and the temperatures drop, it seems that summer in the northern hemisphere is well and truly over, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. On the south-eastern coast of the Persian Gulf lies Dubai, one of the seven United Arab Emirates and a haven for people looking to escape colder climes. If the weather has already started getting you down, perhaps it’s about time you took a trip to Dubai, where you can bask in the warm sun and get rid of those pesky, post-summer blues. Read on for our guide.

For the adventurous

For those who are looking for a little adventure, we’ve created the Dune Dinner Safari excursion, a six-hour desert outing that’s sure to amaze and delight. A 4x4 vehicle will take you across the sprawling sand dunes, stopping along the way to take in the spectacular views, to a Bedouin camp. The Bedouins (or desert dwellers, in English) are a semi-nomadic group who live in the desert, and here you’ll learn about their culture and customs. There will also be camel rides, traditional music, performances and water pipes, before finishing the evening with a delicious feast.

For the sun-worshipper

If sunbathing on a beach is your thing, you have to get yourself to Dubai. During September and October temperatures are between 30°C and 40°C – perfect for an afternoon or morning at the beach, being careful to avoid the middle of the day where the sun is at its hottest. Al Mamzar Beach Park is popular amongst locals and visitors, with its lush greenery, sandy beaches, barbecue facilities and playgrounds. There’s even a swimming pool if you want a break from the ocean, and places to rent loungers, sun umbrellas and water sports equipment. For the thrill-seeker

Want to experience Dubai from a unique perspective? How about from above? Join our incredible Sea Plane Tour excursion and see the city’s famous sights from high above, as you soar through the air aboard a Cessna sea plane. Marvel at this modern metropolis and take in the magnificent views of the Burj Khalifa, Palm Island and more. Visit a traditional Bedouin camp on our Dune and Dinner Safari. For the luxury lover

There’s no doubt that Dubai is a city that exudes modern luxury and glamour, with its breath-taking buildings, expensive boutiques and incredible monuments, so for luxury lovers it’s the perfect destination. If luxury shopping is what you’re after, get yourself a personal shopper and spend the day visiting Dubai’s designer boutiques. There’s Dior, Gucci and Marc Jacobs, to name just a few. Foodies will rejoice at the number of gourmet, luxury restaurants in Dubai, including Verre by Gordan Ramsay. Book a table at one of these restaurants and prepare to have your taste buds wowed. If high-flying activities are more your thing, how about a hot air balloon ride with champagne and strawberries? Or perhaps a day of pampering at one of the many luxury spas? When in Dubai, you’re spoilt for choice. Join our Sea Plane Tour and experience Dubai’s sights, like The Palm, from above. For the family

Take your family to Atlantis, The Palm – an ocean-themed resort and hotel – for an amazing day of swimming and playing with dolphins at Dolphin Bay. Visitors to this special dolphin habitat can take part in lots of fun activities, ranging from swimming with the dolphins to one-of-a-kind dolphin adventures.
