Working out what to wear when going for dinner with friends can be tricky enough without the headache of knowing that you won’t have your entire wardrobe to hand and also need to remember your passport, sun cream and swimsuit. To make life a bit easier for you, we’ve drawn up a list you can use as a crib sheet when packing for your cruise. What Not to Pack For the safety of our guests, the following items are not allowed on board: Electrical transformers, coffee makers, candles, irons, illegal drugs, flammable liquids and explosives, such as fireworks. For a full list of items please visit our Frequently Asked Questions section. For security purposes, we also recommend not packing any valuables (such as jewellery) in your checked-in luggage. On The First Day It is a good idea to take a small carry-on bag with your travel documents, money and any medications you may need. A great tip is to also take your toiletries and a change of clothes (possibly your swimsuit or sports clothes if you’d like an early dip in the pool, a spot of sunbathing – it is always warm in the solarium - or a sports activity). This will enable you to enjoy the ship straight away without having to wait for your checked bags to arrive in your stateroom. Onshore Attire Pack according to your destination. Heading to the Mediterranean or Caribbean? Sun cream and hats are a must. Exploring Alaska or the Norwegian Fjords? Even in the summer, the evenings can get pretty cool on land and on the ship, so sweaters and jackets are advisable. Comfortable walking shoes are a good idea if you are planning on a spot of sightseeing. Please also remember to dress respectfully if you want to visit any churches, mosques or holy sites. We can guarantee some fantastic sights and scenery on all of our cruises and highly recommend taking a camera. Dress Codes During the day the ship’s dress code is entirely casual. You’ll need swimwear for the pool and sunbathing, plus a selection of t-shirts, shorts, trousers or jeans, casual skirts and blouses and sundresses for all other areas of the ship. If you plan to visit the fitness centre or take part in any sporting activity during your cruise, remember to pack sports clothes and running shoes. You’ll also need a selection of casual, smart casual and formal clothes for evening meals in the main dining room. Casual dining clothes for men may include polo shirts and trousers, for example, and for women sundresses, trousers and casual skirts and blouses are all fine. A smart casual wardrobe for men would include sports jackets and ties and dresses or trouser suits for women. Formal attire comprises suits and ties or tuxedos for men and cocktail dresses for women. Tuxedo rentals are available for formal dinners and special occasions.
