For nearly 40 years, our company has carried out a wide variety of environmental activities. In 1992, we formalised those efforts into a programme that we call Save The Waves®. Since its creation, the Save The Waves® programme has evolved from a programme focused on reducing, reusing and recycling waste to a company-wide philosophy that is integrated into the daily operations on board all our ships.
Save the Waves® has become an integral part of each crew member's job and is the backbone of daily operations on board our ships. There are four key principles of Save The Waves®:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - Reduce the generation of waste material, reuse and recycle wherever possible and dispose of remaining waste properly.
Practice Pollution Prevention - Nothing may be thrown overboard. Nothing.
Go Above and Beyond Compliance (ABC) - means doing more than is required by regulations.
| Continuous Improvement - Change is the only constant; innovation is encouraged and rewarded. |
We invite you to read more about our Save The Waves® programme in our 2008 Stewardship Report.
