Mumbai (Bombay), India

India is a feast for the senses, where you will be bombarded with amazing sights, sounds, tastes and aromas. Where better to start your visit than the Gateway of India, Mumbai’s (formerly Bombay) most famous landmark? From there check out, the Dhobi Ghats where washing machines and tumble dryers are passed over in favour of a good rock and a bar of soap. See also the gorgeous marble Jain Temple, Flora Fountain and go people watching as you stroll along the waterfront at Marine Drive. Visit Mani Bhavan, Mahatma Gandhi's Bombay base between 1917 and 1934 and now a museum and memorial.
  • At home in Mumbai You will be welcomed into a traditional Mumbai home and treated to a showcase of celebrations such as a glamorous wedding and festivals. Ladies will be taught how to tie a sari and you will be served with traditional delicacies.
  • Mumbai markets - Wander through the alleyways of the flea market Chor Bazaar, where vendors have been selling their wares for generations. Then for fantastic colour and intense scents, visit Crawford Market, with its mountains of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Muscat, Oman

One of the Middle East’s oldest cities, Muscat is filled with beautifully preserved ancient artefacts, architecture and heritage. Wander through the labyrnthine lanes of the Muttrah Souk, one of the oldest marketplaces in the region, see the historic, 18th century merchant houses with their intricately carved balconies and the beautiful Al Lawatiya Mosque with its distinctive blue minaret and dome. Visit the Bait Adam and Bait Al Zubair museums and then check out the splendour of Al Alam Palace and the medieval fortresses of Jalali and Mirani. Stroll along the waterfront promenade, the Corniche, and go deep sea fishing for Barracuda or Marlin.
  • Turtle Spotting - Visit the small fishing village of Quriyat, picturesque Wadi Arabayeen and the Bimah sinkhole before arriving at Ras Al Junaiyz, a sanctuary for green turtles, and watch as sea turtles come up the beach at night to nest.
